Tapping. Part 3: Let's Get Down And Dirty

[NC11-AM] Okay, here goes... sorry about the huge delay. Finally got a wee bit 'o time to write this. Anyway, hope you read Part 1 and Part 2 of my All about tapping lessons.

Let's get down to it.

Here are some examples with some major and minor arpeggio shapes:
(the left hand notes may be sustained by holding the chord)

In the next one, you use hammer-ons for the left hand(creates a quasi-classical fingerpicking effect)

Be careful not to let the open notes sound when you release the taps and hammer-ons.

This is personally my favorite 'style' of tapping(multiple strings with left hand hammer-ons) The only problem is that you learn to sync your hands with normal playing. Now, you have to learn hand independence. A good distorted riff to begin learning hand independence is Funeral for a friend - Roses for the dead intro

But, this song is a bit bland and easy to play when you get the hang of it, so on we move. A great chilled out song that you can play to practice this is Rob Scallon - For that second and check out the full tab and the rest of his stuff, really really good!

That's pretty confusing.. sorry It's not too easy to give good finger indications with a song like this. Watch the video lesson Rob scallon put up here on UG.. It's a great help!

Now, as you go along the road of learning how to tap like a god(In this instance I'd say God = Steve Vai) you'll encounter 'bet you can't play this' video's with a crazy Asian guy tapping on eight guitars with all his fingers and toes... sorry but you can't do this... EVER ...not without selling your soul to the devil, but that takes time and you have to go all the way to the junction of Highways 61 and 49 in Clarksdale, Mississippi(Robert Johnson reference, btw =P)

Fortunately, with some time and a lot of practice you'll be able to play 8 finger taps.

8 finger taps however, are very hard to tab out with good finger indications and The way I do it won't make sense.
