Tapping. V2

[NC11-AM] Tapping is done by hitting your right hand's middle, index, or pinky(whichever is most comfortable) on a fret then pulling off to a lower fret.

One thing to remember is to keep ur fingers loose and move your fingers up and down with the joint closest to your hand. This way you'll get the most leverage.

Here is a lick to get started on:
*T means to tap the indicated note
   T T T
E|-17--13--17--13--17--13-----------------------------------
B|----------------------------------------------------------
G|----------------------------------------------------------
D|----------------------------------------------------------
A|----------------------------------------------------------
D|----------------------------------------------------------

after u get that down, add another note:
    T T T
E|-17--13-p10h13--17--13--p10h13--17--13--p10h13------------
B|----------------------------------------------------------
G|----------------------------------------------------------
D|----------------------------------------------------------
A|----------------------------------------------------------
D|----------------------------------------------------------

pretty cool, huh?
well now that you have that down, make a slightly more complex arrangement of the notes:

T T T T T T
E|17-13-p10h13-17-10h13-p10h13--p10--17-13-17-13-17-10-17-10
B|----------------------------------------------------------
G|----------------------------------------------------------
D|----------------------------------------------------------
A|----------------------------------------------------------
D|----------------------------------------------------------

Now that you know how to play it, now you'll learn how to write your own!

what I've showed you so far is bassed on a blues scale, but also are found in a D minor chord. What i recommend is a blues scale, minor scale, and major scale to start constructing your solos with.(another popular scale is the pentatonic, but I never use it because it's only 5 notes and is used waaaaay too often.) I'll now walk you through the process

I'm gonna work with a blues scale again. this time I'll use the 7th, 6th, and 5th notes of the scale as my first 3 notes.
E|----------------------------------------------------------
B|--17-15-12-17-15-12---------------------------------------
G|----------------------------------------------------------
D|----------------------------------------------------------
A|----------------------------------------------------------
D|----------------------------------------------------------

Then I'm going to change my pattern, instead maneuvering my way through the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th notes of the scale

E|----------------------------------------------------------
B|-15-12-10-11-10-11-10-------------------------------------
G|----------------------------------------------------------
D|----------------------------------------------------------
A|----------------------------------------------------------
D|----------------------------------------------------------

Next I'll add a tremolo picking part using the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th notes
remember this part is NOT tapped

E|----------------------------------------------------------
B|----------------------------------------------------------
G|-16-15-14-15-16-15-14-15-16-15-14-15-16-15-14-12-14-15----
D|----------------------------------------------------------
A|----------------------------------------------------------
D|----------------------------------------------------------

now, I put all these sections together to make a short solo:

E|----------------------------------------------------------
B|-17-15-12-17-15-12-15-12-10-11-10-11-10-16-15-14-15-16-15-
G|----------------------------------------------------------
D|----------------------------------------------------------
A|----------------------------------------------------------
D|----------------------------------------------------------

E|---------------------------------15/\/\-------------------
B|-14-15-16-15-14-16-15-14-12-14-15-------------------------
G|----------------------------------------------------------
D|----------------------------------------------------------
A|----------------------------------------------------------
D|----------------------------------------------------------

Well there you go, have a good time practicing that technique and writing solos, and good luck!
